Chris Foster - Dulux Select Decorator

Where do you live?

Long Clawson, between Nottingham and Melton Mowbray.

What was your first job when you left school?

Apprentice Carpenter.

How long have you been a decorator?

14 years.

Why did you go into the decorating business?

I was attracted by the money initially from fellow tradesmen on site - at the time I was serving my apprenticeship as a Carpenter. I was also attracted by the variety the job offered.

What are the key benefits of Dulux Select for your business?

The benefits for me have changed from when I first started out, as I consider my business pretty well established. The partnership with a major brand is a massive benefit. As well as the fact that the paints are the best in the business!

Would you/or have you recommended the Dulux Select Decorator scheme to anyone else?

Yes I would, and I have recommended Dulux Select to other decorators.

Is there one particular project you are proud of and why?

We recently painted a Gothic style Castle in Scotland. It was a challenging project painting the exterior given the Scottish weather. Dulux Trade Weathershield products were used and the customer was very pleased with the outcome. I am extremely proud of the final result due to the sheer logistics of the project and the organisation that was needed to complete it with such great results. ICI made special arrangements to get paint to us and assisted in any way they could.

What do you do when you are not working?

I enjoy playing and watching football and support Nottingham Forest. I also like to spend time with my family and Scuba Dive in and around the UKweather permitting!

What van do you drive?

A Vauxhall Combo Van.
