Whiter than white: give customers the best value on every level

August 2009

With the news hot off the press that Dulux Trade Light & Space Absolute White has been confirmed as the whitest, lightest and brightest colour available on the market, there's never been a better time to make sure that the products you offer your customers give them - and you - the best possible performance and value on every level.

Nicolas Guichard, Brand Manager for Core Whites at Dulux Trade, explains how decorators can find the highest performing products for all applications.

"We all know how proud professional painters are of their handiwork, and rightly so. Thanks to advances in technology, though, there are products out there that cover better, go further, last longer, and ultimately make decorators look even better.

"Due to the current economic climate, customers are shopping around more and are looking for value for money in every single aspect of their spending. Competition for jobs is continuing to hot up, but by being able to offer a portfolio of outstanding products as well as a bank of impressive skills, decorators can gain the edge over the competition and keep their diaries booked up with work.

"Take Dulux Trade Light & Space Absolute White, for example. Not only is it proven to be the whitest colour on the market1, but by being part of the Light & Space colour range which is less absorbent and more reflective of light - due to a unique combination of LumitecTM technology, optimised tinting recipes and a range of high Light Reflectance Value (LRV) colours - it enables homeowners to use up to 22 per cent less light energy. Rooms look bigger and brighter, and their energy costs are reduced.

Whiter than white

Five finishes are available in the full Light & Space colour range, including Ecosure Matt and Vinyl Matt, which means that decorators will be able to meet the requirements of the most discerning, time poor or environmentally conscious customers. Vinyl Matt, for instance, combines excellent opacity, spreading rate and application attributes with the properties of the Light & Space colour range, and Ecosure Matt, has a 35 per cent carbon reduction compared to standard paints. It has virtually no VOCs at all and generates substantial energy savings, so is ideal for customers looking for a more sustainable decorating solution.

"Diamond Matt and Diamond Eggshell, on the other hand, provide unrivalled durability that can stand up to the busiest households' highest traffic areas like halls, stairs and bathrooms. The Diamond range offers both best in class durability and great stain resistance, as well as excellent flexibility, meaning it is far less likely to show any hairline cracks. When already existing hairline cracks are painted over with a Diamond product, they are much less likely to reappear, and a product such as Flat Matt, which gives a 'dead' flat finish, is perfect for hiding surface imperfections in period properties. It's useful nuggets like this that will really impress your customer base and keep them loyal for years to come.

"So, when selecting the paint for your next job, make sure you choose a product that can prove itself on every level and will leave you looking 'whiter than white.'"
