Apprenticeships on the rise
Statistics show that the number of apprenticeships in the UK has risen by more than 50 per cent in the past year.
£25 million was set aside by the government earlier this year to help fund these schemes, and painters and decorators are among the businesses benefiting from taking on trainees.
Business secretary, Vince Cable, commented: "By helping firms build a stronger skills base, this investment puts businesses on solid foundations to deliver sustainable growth and a more balanced and inclusive economy."
