Businesses dipping into own pockets
Forget about dipping into the paint can, some decorators could well be finding that they are having to dip into their own pockets to fund some of their costs.
A study by Make it Cheaper and the Centre for Economic and Business Research found that 47 per cent of small companies have been forced to inject some extra cash into their business from personal sources this year.
Loans from friends and family, credit cards and overdrafts are all ways that business owners admitted to finding extra dosh to cover expenses and overheads.
"Businesses are not only having to box clever with their borrowing, but also be creative in cutting costs," said Jonathan Elliott, Managing Director of Make It Cheaper. "Now is the time to be shopping around for cheaper overheads."
