Businesses not confident with figures

Painters and decorators who don't feel confident sorting out their accounts are not alone.

Over a third (39 per cent) of small businesses manage their own finances, yet one in five (19 per cent) say they are not confident in doing so without any professional support, according to a recent survey.

The research from unbiased.co.uk also revealed that 54 per cent of sole traders refuse to go to a professional for their accounting needs, compared to just 20 per cent of businesses with between one and nine employees.

Chief Executive of unbiased.co.uk, Karen Barrett, comments: "There are many small businesses struggling to make ends meet in their current environment and ensuring that they have the right financial guidance could make all the difference."
