Businesses urged to appoint an apprentice
To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week, (7th-11th February 2011), the Government is urging employers to continue to invest in apprentices and training.
Business Secretary Vince Cable said that the Government will be working with businesses to deliver 100,000 more apprenticeship places by 2014 and urged firms to follow the lead of employers who are currently increasing their apprentice intake.
With increasing numbers of apprenticeships available in painting and decorating, trainees are able to begin their first steps to a rewarding career by learning how to be a painter or decorator with hands-on, on-the-job training. As well as work experience and a wage, they also gain a nationally recognised qualification. Not only does this benefit them, it also has a positive impact on the business and the economy.
National Apprenticeship Week celebrates the achievements and skills of apprentices and showcases the benefits of various programmes and the value that apprentices bring to the organisations they work for.
