Calls for Cable to cut red tape
A new campaign has urged the Business Secretary, Vince Cable, to reduce the obstacles that hold small businesses back.
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) launched the 'Real-Life Entrepreneurs' campaign at the Lib Dem Conference.
The campaign points out that small business bosses take on a lot of risk in starting up companies. It also highlights that small firms have been crucial in driving growth and creating new jobs in the UK through the recession.
It calls on the Government to do more to help these entrepreneurial businesses grow. A reduction in red tape and an extension to the National Insurance Contributions holiday are among the recommendations put forward.
John Walker, national chairman of the FSB, said of the campaign: "The economy has stalled and as the impact of the public sector cuts continue to bite, the Government needs the UK's small businesses [...] to pick up the slack."
"We are calling on the Business Secretary to listen to the Real Life Entrepreneurs that have told us their problems."
