Work starts on £150m athlete's village
On your marks, get set, paint!
Painters and decorators are among the tradespeople who are creating the site which is due to house 6,500 athletes and officials during the game period.
The buildings will boast 60 per cent lower carbon emissions than similar constructions and will be converted into housing for local people after the sporting event has come to an end.
Ed Monaghan from City Legacy, which is investing £150m into the project, said the area will be transformed "into a much sought after riverside residential location which showcases the Athletes' Village as the best in contemporary and sustainable design".
