Rise in construction activity spells good news for decorators
Britain's construction industry saw an increase in work and employment in May, which should be good news for painters and decorators.
The latest Purchasing Manager's Index (PMI) from Markit/CIPS revealed that building activity rose from the previous month's 53.3 points to 54. The report also showed that job opportunities across the sector had grown for the first time since June 2010.
Commenting on the report, CIPS CEO David Noble said: "Sustained growth of commercial activity and reports of an unblocking of order books is much needed good news [...] It's encouraging to see a return to growth in the housing sector."
