Government plan to revitalise small business

Painters and decorators are among the businesses that could be helped by a new programme to inject billions of pounds into small businesses.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, announced plans at the Conservative Party Conference for the Government to buy bonds from small businesses across the UK, letting them borrow money at a time when it is becoming more and more difficult to get funds from banks.

It's hoped that helping small companies to get their hands on cash will help kick-start the economy, and get British business back on track.

Osborne said: "It could help prevent another credit crunch; provide a real boost to British business and over time help solve that age old problem in Britain - not enough long term investment in small business and enterprise."
