Home improvement spending skyrockets
Painters and decorators could find themselves with lots of new work, as people start spending more than ever on redecorating their homes, according to figures released by the Bank of England.
With the current slump in the housing market, home owners would rather invest in renovating their own house, rather than buy a new one, official statistics show.
Towards the end of 2010 an extra £7bn was spent making improvements on property in the UK, and another £5.8bn in the start of this year.
All these extra home improvements mean big bucks for the tradesmen as they are called in to lend a professional hand.
"This economy needs confidence and there is no bank that is better placed to give it than RBS-Natwest."
