London to Paris charity cycle ride

CLC Group's Nick Hilton and Malcolm White recently successfully completed the London to Paris charity cycle, a challenging route of nearly 500km.

Nick Hilton, CLC Group Deputy Managing Director commented: "We would like to say a huge thank you to Dulux Trade for their generous sponsorship. Dulux Trade is a long-standing supplier to CLC Group and it was a great honour to have them sponsor us for such a worthwhile cause. Christian Aid's main focus for the ride was to help raise funds for countries which have been affected by climate change by providing funding to help farmers change their techniques to enable them to overcome unforeseen disasters such as flooding and drought."

"When Malcolm approached me about doing the event last year I was apprehensive but excited. I had only recently started cycling, but wanted to challenge myself to take part in such a well known event and raise funds for Christian Aid".

"The first day I had pre-ride nerves, but once we had the first 20-miles under our belt I was confident that I could do it. Malcolm is a seasoned rider and he provided me with a lot of support and encouragement along the way. It was definitely a challenge for us both. My favourite part was when we started to see signs for Paris, and we knew we were nearly there!"

Malcolm White, CLC Group Financial Director, commented: "The whole journey from the start of training through to the end of the ride was quite daunting but we had a great trip and cycled with lots of lovely people of all ages and riding abilities sharing a common goal of raising money for Christian Aid. The collective sense of achievement in Paris was immense."

"On the last day Nick got a puncture and I got three! We were making good time, but due to my third puncture we had to wait over an hour until the support team reached us. A lot of the other riders suffered punctures on the last day due to the rain and grit, so we weren't alone. However, aside from all that we met up with the rest of the team and finished together at 5pm on Saturday; in time to see the real professionals come in from the Tour de France."
