More housing needed to keep up with demand
More housing is needed to keep up with the growing number of households, according to a report out last week. "New and Novel Household Projections for England With a 2008 Base", published by the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), stated there currently isn't enough housing to support the potential 234,000 additional households which form per year.
The rise in households was put down to a changing population, such as an increase in lone parents. If local governments and building contractors take note of the report and act accordingly, the results could well see more opportunities for painters and decorators in the future.
More details of the report can be found at: www.tcpa.org.uk.
