Prime Minister pledges 200,000 new homes

In a move that could see plenty of new work for painters and decorators, the Prime Minister has just announced plans to build over 200,000 homes across the UK.

Speaking in a BBC interview, David Cameron said that the Government is going to make it easier for people in council houses to buy their own homes, by giving them bigger discounts.

The money raised from the sale of these homes will then be spent on constructing new, affordable, properties.

In another effort to encourage building, developers will be allowed to build the new homes on publicly-owned land, and wait until after they have sold the buildings to pay for it.
