Call for councils to help small business recycle
Local authorities have been accused of not helping small businesses to recycle their waste in a new report from the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF).
In a complaint that will be familiar to many professional decorators, the manufacturing trade body has said that many councils do not give smaller firms access to their recycling facilities, instead forcing them to turn to private contractors.
With increasingly tough requirements on the safe disposal of paints and other decorating products, the cost of recycling will be a growing concern for many tradesmen.
To help businesses meet new recycling targets, the EEF has called on the Government to make sure that it is easier for them to use state-owned recycling facilities.
