DEFRA to help businesses tackle waste

Decorators know that they need to dispose of any unwanted paints and materials carefully, but now there will be extra support to help them do so.

As part of new plans for a zero waste economy, the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has pledged to assist small businesses get rid of their rubbish and unwanted items.

Defra's 'Review on Waste Policies' was launched last week by Environment Secretary, Caroline Spelman, and highlights a number of areas where the Government will work with SMEs to improve recycling practices and waste disposal.

"People want to do the right thing by reducing waste [...] and we want to help them," said Spelman. "This means making sure communities are getting the collection services they want."
